Preguntas Frecuentes

How do you calculate net income?

Revenue − COGS − operating expenses = operating income. Subtract interest for pre-tax income, then subtract tax. The result is net income — the bottom line.

What’s the difference between net income and gross profit?

Gross profit is revenue minus COGS only. Net income goes further, subtracting all operating expenses, interest, and taxes — it’s what the business actually earns.

What is net margin?

Net margin = net income ÷ revenue × 100. It shows what share of every revenue dollar becomes profit after all costs. Higher is better; benchmarks vary by industry.

Why subtract interest separately?

Interest is a financing cost, not an operating one. Separating it shows operating income (how the core business performs) versus the impact of debt.

Is net income the same as cash flow?

No. Net income is an accounting figure that includes non-cash items like depreciation. Cash flow tracks actual money in and out — a profitable company can still be cash-tight.
