Frequently Asked Questions
How do you calculate ROI?
ROI = (return − investment) ÷ investment × 100. If you invest $10,000 and get back $15,000, your ROI is ($5,000 ÷ $10,000) × 100 = 50%.
What is a good ROI?
It depends on the investment type and risk. For marketing, a 5:1 revenue-to-spend ratio (400% ROI) is often considered strong; for the stock market, ~7–10% annually is typical. Compare against your alternatives and cost of capital.
What is annualized ROI?
Annualized ROI expresses your return as a yearly rate, so investments over different time periods can be compared fairly. A 50% return over 6 months annualizes to a much higher rate than 50% over 3 years.
What is the difference between ROI and ROAS?
ROI measures profit relative to total cost. ROAS (return on ad spend) measures revenue relative to ad spend only and ignores other costs. ROI is the truer profitability measure; ROAS is a quick ad-efficiency gauge.
How do I improve marketing ROI?
Cut spend on underperforming channels, double down on what converts, improve conversion rates, and increase customer lifetime value. Tracking every dollar from spend to closed revenue is what makes those decisions possible.
